Amit Shah, Nitin Nabin Extend Wishes On Gujarat Foundation Day

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Friday extended greetings on the 66th Gujarat Foundation Day, highlighting the state’s cultural richness and contribution to national development.

In a message shared on X, Shah described Gujarat as a land of glorious history, vibrant culture and strong entrepreneurial spirit. He noted that the state has played a key role in nation-building, from the freedom movement to economic development, and continues to reflect the vision of unity and excellence.

The Minister also offered prayers at Somnath Temple for the well-being and prosperity of the people.

Nitin Nabin also conveyed greetings, describing Gujarat as a state known for its industrious population, rich legacy and consistent achievements. He further emphasised that the state’s entrepreneurial drive and contributions stand as an example of resilience and progress.

Gujarat Gaurav Diwas Significance

The foundation day, also known as Gujarat Gaurav Diwas, commemorates the formation of the state in 1960. The state was formed after the bifurcation of the erstwhile Bombay State on linguistic lines.

The main state-level programme is being held in Surat, featuring a ceremonial procession and cultural showcases.

The event begins with a march from Y Junction near VR Mall to Lalbhai Contractor Stadium. Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi will attend.

Police contingents are participating in a march-past, accompanied by cultural performances and a motorcycle stunt display.

In the evening, a large cultural programme titled ‘Glorious Gujarat: From Heritage to Development’ is scheduled at Dumas Sea Face, featuring over 250 artists. The performances will highlight traditions and developmental themes through music, dance and light-and-sound presentations.

State honours, including the Gujarat Garima Award, will be presented during the celebrations. The government will also release publications documenting Surat’s growth, including ‘Vikas Vatika’ and a coffee-table book.

Several heritage and government buildings in the city have been illuminated to mark the occasion.

The celebrations coincide with the third edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference. The conference will focus on industry, MSMEs, sustainability and regional development initiatives.
