Amit Shah Lauds PM Modi Government’s Welfare Schemes; Calls For NDA Sweep In Darbhanga

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday addressed a large gathering in Darbhanga, where he criticised the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for promoting dynastic politics.

Shah accused Congress president Sonia Gandhi and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav of seeking to place their children in top political positions.

“Sonia Gandhi wants to make her son Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister, and Lalu Prasad Yadav wants to make his son the Chief Minister of Bihar,” Shah declared.

“I want to tell them that there is no vacancy for either post. Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister and Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister, and they will remain on those posts.”

Focus on Youth Empowerment

Framing his address as a contrast between nepotism and merit-based politics, Shah underlined the BJP’s commitment to empowering young leaders.

He announced that the party would field one lakh first-time candidates across various levels of government, from local councils to Parliament.

Highlighting the example of 25-year-old folk singer Maithili Thakur, who has been fielded by the BJP from Alinagar, Shah said, “While Lalu Prasad wants to make his son the Chief Minister and Sonia Gandhi wants to make her son the Prime Minister, the BJP is the only party that brings new youth into politics.”

Turning to national issues, Shah praised the PM Modi government’s decisive action against the banned organisation Popular Front of India (PFI).

“The PFI was formed here, but the then Congress government did not ban it. PM Modi banned the PFI overnight, conducted raids across more than 100 locations, and dismantled its entire network,” he said, adding that the BJP would never allow PFI members to operate freely again.

He also highlighted the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that “The Congress and Lalu Prasad Yadav protected Article 370 for 70 years. PM Modi abolished it forever. Earlier, terrorists would shed blood on Indian soil without consequence. Today, under PM Modi, we strike at the terrorists’ homes.”

Welfare Schemes and Development in Bihar

Amit Shah outlined several central and state-level welfare programmes benefiting the poor and middle-class families.

These included free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat, the PM-Kisan scheme providing ₹6,000 annually to farmers, the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana distributing free food grains, and financial support to over one crore Jeevika Didis.

He also cited schemes offering free electricity, widow pensions, and housing assistance.

Recalling the NDA’s strong performance in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, where it won nine out of ten Darbhanga seats, Shah urged voters to deliver a clean sweep this time.

“I appeal to the people of Darbhanga to ensure that all ten seats go into Narendra Modi’s bag,” he said.

Concluding his address, Shah announced plans to construct a grand museum in Darbhanga that will preserve Bihar’s historic manuscripts under one roof — a move he said would celebrate the region’s cultural and literary heritage.
