Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated several completed projects and laid the foundation stone for new civic works worth ₹404.63 crore in Ahmedabad.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation organised the event to showcase projects designed to improve transport, housing, water supply, digital governance and public infrastructure across the city.
While addressing the gathering, Shah said every development project should address future requirements while improving the daily lives of citizens from all sections of society.
Officials credited the initiatives to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the leadership of Amit Shah and the support of Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel.
Key Projects Inaugurated
The programme featured the inauguration of 22 completed projects worth ₹304.99 crore, alongside the launch of seven new projects valued at ₹99.64 crore.
Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited expanded its fleet by introducing 80 new air-conditioned electric buses, while the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service added another 75. Together, the additions increased the city’s public transport network by 155 electric buses.
The event also marked the opening of multiple residential developments, including staff accommodation at LD College of Engineering, housing near the Police Stadium, a residential tower in Shahibaug, and a multi-storey housing complex at Photolitho Press Colony.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation launched several online civic services, allowing residents to access marriage registration, water and drainage applications, contractor registration, food licence services and memberships for municipal sports facilities through digital platforms.
Authorities also opened a community hall, a stormwater pumping station, a food court, a labour welfare centre and a new Anganwadi.
The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority completed key road projects and upgraded drinking water facilities under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for seven additional projects, including the redevelopment of residential quarters, three BRTS depots equipped with electric bus charging stations, a public library, a Sponge Park, and the restoration of Jaspur Lake.
