Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed vegetable sub-yard of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) at Dahegam in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district, aimed at strengthening agricultural marketing infrastructure and improving facilities for farmers.
The Dahegam APMC organised the inauguration as part of its Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani, Dahegam APMC Chairman Sumeru Amin, cooperative representatives, APMC members and other dignitaries attended the event.
According to the Ministry of Cooperation, the advanced vegetable sub-yard provides better infrastructure for the sale of vegetables and other agricultural produce, enhances marketing facilities, and supports farmers with improved access to organised markets.
During the event, Shah also released the APMC’s Amrit Mahotsav commemorative publication and interacted with members of the Dahegam APMC Board.
The Union Minister also planted a sapling under the Centre’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
Describing the inauguration as a significant milestone for the cooperative sector and agriculture, Harsh Sanghavi said, “Prosperity through Cooperation and a Noble Resolve for Farmers’ Welfare.”
“The newly constructed state-of-the-art Vegetable Sub-Yard of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), Dahegam, was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Amit Shah,” he further added.
The programme aligned with the Centre’s ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ (Prosperity through Cooperation) vision, which seeks to modernise agricultural marketing, improve farmers’ access to market infrastructure, and promote rural economic development through cooperative institutions.
Agricultural Produce Market Committees function as regulated marketplaces where farmers sell their produce through an organised system designed to ensure transparent trading and fair price discovery.
