Amit Shah Highlights Impact Of Women-Led Development Over 12 Years

The Modi government’s emphasis on a women-led development model has delivered significant outcomes and opened a new chapter in the empowerment, safety and dignity of women, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Friday.

Marking 12 years of the NDA government at the Centre, Shah highlighted a series of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of women and expanding their role in nation-building. He also praised Indian women for excelling across diverse fields, including sports, science, space exploration and the armed forces.

Sharing his views on X, Shah stated that the government has prioritised women’s welfare through several flagship programmes. He noted that initiatives such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, over 10 crore LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme and more than 12 crore toilets have enhanced women’s dignity and convenience.

The Home Minister also highlighted the impact of the Mudra scheme. He said the programme has connected nearly 70 per cent of women beneficiaries to self-employment through collateral-free loans.

Shah added that initiatives such as Lakhpati Didi, Crorepati Didi and self-help groups have strengthened women’s financial independence. He further pointed to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, enacted in 2023, which provides a pathway for 33 per cent representation of women in politics.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to women-led growth.

Using the hashtag #12YearsOfYuvaShakti on X, the Prime Minister said women have emerged as key contributors across financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, healthcare, education, sanitation, housing, sports, science and governance.

PM Modi described women as the cornerstone of nation-building and said their talent and dedication continue to enhance the glory of the nation across every sector.
