Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday praised Operation Sindoor, crediting it to PM Narendra Modi’s strong political will, accurate intelligence inputs, and the Indian Armed Forces’ lethal capabilities.
He made the remarks during the Border Security Force (BSF) Investiture Ceremony in the national capital.

He further added, “When all three converge, an operation like Sindoor takes shape.”
Response To Decades Of Pakistan-Sponsored Terrorism
Shah reminded the audience that India has endured decades of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
Recalling the 2016 Uri attack, Shah noted that Prime Minister Modi’s government was the first to respond decisively with surgical strikes on terrorist hideouts.
“In 2014, Narendra Modi became Prime Minister. Following the Uri attack, we sent a strong message by striking back at terrorist bases for the first time,” Shah stated.
Pakistan Exposed Through Operation Sindoor
The Home Minister highlighted how Pakistan’s reaction to India’s counter-terror operations revealed its direct involvement in terrorism.
“Pakistan retaliated to our strikes on terrorist sites, proving it sponsors terrorism. Their army even attended terrorists’ funerals, exposing the nexus,” he said.
Moreover, Shah commended the BSF for its role during the operation. “Even during shelling from across the border, BSF personnel did not retreat. They responded strongly and defended our borders valiantly,” he noted.
He emphasised the effectiveness of Indian-made defence equipment used in the operation.
“Operation Sindoor demonstrated the accuracy and capability of our indigenous weapons. Under PM Modi’s leadership, we are progressing toward self-reliance in defence,” Home Minister Shah said.
BSF Entrusted With India’s Most Challenging Borders
Shah also underlined the strategic importance of the BSF’s deployment.
BSF secures two of India’s most sensitive borders — Pakistan and Bangladesh. You have done it with exceptional discipline and efficiency,” he added.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, following a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam in April that killed 26 people, including a Nepali citizen.
The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, areas long believed to be the origin points of planned terror attacks against India.
