Amit Shah Congratulates India’s Men’s Kabaddi Team On Asian Games Gold

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated India’s men’s kabaddi team after it won the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, praising the players for their performance in the final against Iran.

In a post on X, Shah wrote, “Another Gold🥇 in Kabaddi! Hats off to India’s Men’s Kabaddi Team on winning the Gold Medal at the #AsianGames2026. Your indomitable performance has scripted a glorious chapter and inspired millions of Kabaddi players. May success always accompany you!”

India defeated Iran 40-34 in the men’s final at the Tokai Citizen Gymnasium on Saturday.

Iran held a one-point lead at half-time, but the Indian team produced a strong second-half performance to turn the contest around and secure the title.

The victory gave India its ninth gold medal in men’s kabaddi at the Asian Games.

The team had previously won the title at the 2022 Hangzhou Games after missing out on gold in 2018.

The men’s triumph came after India’s women’s kabaddi team also defeated Iran 37-34 earlier in the day to win gold.

The women’s victory secured their fourth Asian Games gold medal and retained the title for India.

India therefore won both kabaddi finals against Iran at the ongoing Games, adding two gold medals to its campaign in Aichi-Nagoya.

The back-to-back victories strengthened India’s long record in Asian Games kabaddi and gave players across the country another achievement to draw inspiration from.
