Amit Shah Congratulates India’s Women’s Kabaddi Team On Asian Games Gold

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated India’s women’s kabaddi team after it won the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games on Saturday, praising the players for their performance in the final against Iran.

Taking to X, Shah posted, “India Grabs Gold in Kabaddi! Congratulations to the Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team on winning the Gold Medal🥇 at the #AsianGames2026. Your power-packed performance enthralled the nation and mirrored India’s indisputable dominance in the game. May victory always be your companion.”

India defeated Iran 37-34 in a closely contested final at the Tokai Citizen Gymnasium in Aichi-Nagoya to secure the gold medal.

The Indian team held its composure through a tense contest and finished three points ahead of its opponents.

The victory extended India’s strong record in women’s kabaddi at the Asian Games, giving the team its fourth gold medal in the event.

India previously won the title in 2010, 2014 and 2022, while Iran claimed gold in 2018.

According to public broadcaster Akashvani, the women’s kabaddi gold also marked India’s third gold medal at the ongoing Games.

The team’s latest success capped a strong campaign and added another gold to India’s medal tally at the continental competition.

The victory continued the country’s medal-winning run in women’s kabaddi at the Asian Games.
