Union Home Minister Amit Shah has taken to social media to express his strong disapproval of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent remarks concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi, labeling them as ‘distasteful and disgraceful’.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shah stated, “Yesterday, the Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji has outperformed himself, his leaders and his party in being absolutely distasteful and disgraceful in his speech.”
He emphasized that Kharge’s comments reflected a bitter display of spite and criticized him for dragging PM Modi into personal health matters.
Shah quoted Kharge, who had stated that he would not die until PM Modi is out of power, calling it a testament to the fear and animosity Congress holds toward the Prime Minister.
Addressing Kharge’s health, Shah added, “As for the health of Mr. Kharge Ji, Modi Ji prays, I pray and we all pray that he lives a long, healthy life. May he continue to live for many years and may he live to see the creation of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.”

The controversy erupted during a rally in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, where Kharge, who is 83, nearly fainted while speaking.
After regaining his composure, he expressed his determination to fight for the restoration of statehood, asserting that at 83 years old, he has no intention of dying soon.
Kharge emphasized, “I will stay alive until Prime Minister Narendra Modi is removed from power.”
He also mentioned his dizziness, asking the audience for their understanding as he sat down to continue his speech.
Following Kharge’s health scare, Prime Minister Modi reached out to inquire about his well-being.
The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed, “PM Modi spoke to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Ji and enquired about his health.”
The exchange highlights the rising tensions between the Congress party and the ruling government, particularly as election season approaches.
