On July 4, 2024, the Allahabad High Court had reserved its ruling after completing the hearing of the case. The case has garnered significant attention due to its implications for Ansari’s political career.

In addition to Ansari’s appeal, Piyush Rai, son of the late BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai, has filed a criminal revision petition. The Uttar Pradesh government has also submitted a government appeal to the High Court. Both appeals seek an increase in Ansari’s sentence from four years to ten years.

The case will decide by a single bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh, who will announce the verdict later today. The outcome will not only impact Ansari’s political future but could also set a precedent in similar cases involving criminal convictions of public figures.
