Allahabad High Court on Gyanvapi Case
The debate over the permission granted by District Judge Varanasi for worship in the basement of Vyas Ji, located in the Gyanvapi complex, remained inconclusive in the Allahabad High Court today.
The Muslim side did not receive any relief from the court during today’s hearing.
The Allahabad High Court has not imposed a ban on worship in the basement of Vyas Ji.
The next hearing for the case is scheduled for February 15th.
Advocate Puneet Gupta, representing the UP Sunni Central Waqf Board, presented their arguments first, stating that the basement of Vyas Ji has never been under Hindu possession. He further argued that the order issued by District Judge Varanasi on January 31st is legally incorrect.

Syed Farman Ahmed Naqvi, the senior advocate for the Muslim side, represented the Anjuman Intejamia Masjid Committee. Naqvi mentioned the Babri Masjid case, where a representative from Nirmohi Akhara sought rights, which were rejected by the Supreme Court after a ground investigation. Naqvi emphasized that they are now demanding their rights after 31 years. Despite the lack of inquiry into why the suit was filed after such a long duration, the application was accepted, leading to the acceptance of the final plea.
The Muslim side has contested the orders issued by the Varanasi District Judge on January 17th and January 31st, seeking to annul the judge’s order and prohibit worship.
The case was heard by Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal in a single bench.
