In a significant diplomatic initiative, a seven-member all-party delegation of Indian parliamentarians will travel to several key global capitals later this month to communicate India’s firm stance on cross-border terrorism.
This unprecedented outreach follows the launch of ‘Operation Sindoor’, India’s military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians.
The delegation comprises prominent leaders from across the political spectrum:
- Shashi Tharoor (Congress)
- Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP)
- Sanjay Kumar Jha (JDU)
- Baijayant Panda (BJP)
- Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK)
- Supriya Sule (NCP-SP)
- Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena).
The tour, beginning 23 May, will span 10 days and cover strategic partner countries including the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and Japan.
A Unified National Message
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who is overseeing the delegation’s coordination, emphasised the effort’s bipartisan spirit.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Rijiju stated, “In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero tolerance to terrorism. A powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences.”

This initiative is the first time India is sending multi-party MPs abroad to jointly present its position on terrorism and the situation in Kashmir, especially in the aftermath of its military strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on 7 May.
Each delegation will include Members of Parliament, senior diplomats, and political figures, with the primary objective of reinforcing India’s diplomatic messaging on terrorism and projecting a unified national consensus.
The visits will also serve to strengthen India’s bilateral ties and convey its expectations of international cooperation in addressing terrorism emerging from across its borders.
Context: ‘Operation Sindoor’
India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ following intelligence linking the Pahalgam attack to Pakistan-based terror groups.
The military action on May 7 targeted key camps in PoJK, resulting in the deaths of over 100 terrorists.
The strikes were hailed domestically as precise and necessary, with the government now extending its efforts to the diplomatic front.
This diplomatic tour is expected to mark a turning point in how India conveys its security concerns on the global stage, through bipartisan representation, collaborative dialogue, and assertive international engagement.
It underscores a renewed emphasis on national unity in foreign policy and the need for sustained global action against terrorism.
