All Efforts To Promote ‘Make In India’ Started Yielding Results, Says Piyush Goyal

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that the government’s decade-long efforts under the Make in India initiative have begun showing concrete results.

He said during the 10th anniversary of Make in India that the country now functions with a results-driven approach to facilitate business, encourage manufacturing and expand global and local trade.

Make in India Growth

Highlighting India’s economic momentum, Goyal noted that the nation recorded 7.8 per cent GDP growth in the first quarter of this financial year.

“Who would have predicted such growth? We have outperformed economists’ expectations, and we will continue to do so until 2047,” he stated.

He underlined that India is racing to become a $30-$32 trillion economy by the time it celebrates 100 years of Independence.

The minister contrasted the current approach with past governments.

“Earlier, infrastructure projects came only after problems emerged, new roads after traffic jams, new ports after old ones were congested, and new airports only when existing capacity ended,” he said.

“Today, we plan ‘ahead’. Jewar airport will start operations next month, even as Delhi airport still has extra capacity. The new Mumbai airport will also open by the end of this month, creating vast opportunities for Maharashtra and the surrounding regions,” he mentioned.

Reflecting on his recent visit to the UAE, Goyal described it as highly productive.

More than 75 leaders from industries including textiles, pharmaceuticals, marine fisheries and leather goods participated. “The enthusiasm for India in the Gulf is palpable,” he noted.

He pointed out that bilateral trade with the UAE has already crossed $100 billion since the signing of the Free Trade Agreement.

Building on this momentum, India and the UAE have now reset their target to achieve $100 billion in non-oil, non-precious metals trade within the next three to four years.

Goyal confirmed Bharat Mart will launch in early 2027, enabling MSMEs to present goods, leverage warehousing and streamline logistics for global markets.

“The hub will help small enterprises go international,” he stated, noting Make in India’s continued role in growth.
