AIMIM Leader Abdul Salam Shot Dead in Bihar, Second Killing in Two Months

Unidentified assailants fatally shot AIMIM leader Abdul Salam in Bihar’s Gopalganj district late Monday, marking the second AIMIM leader killed in Bihar since December.

Salam, who recently contested the by-poll to the Gopalganj assembly seat, was attacked while en route to catch a train. Four assailants on two motorcycles opened fire, injuring Salam, who later succumbed to his wounds in the hospital.

Gopalganj police superintendent Swarn Prabhat has established a Special Investigation Team to probe the murder and ascertain the motive behind it.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, citing the recent spate of attacks on AIMIM leaders. Owaisi urged Kumar to prioritize addressing these security concerns and ensuring justice for the victims’ families.

Adil Hasan Azad, AIMIM’s Bihar spokesperson, described Salam as a non-controversial and dedicated leader, calling for a thorough investigation by the police.

The incident has raised concerns about political violence in Bihar and underscores the need for authorities to take decisive action to maintain law and order.
