AIIMS Jodhpur Hosts NBRCOM 2025; Showcases India’s Emerging Biomedical Research Talent

Rajasthan’s Marwar region created a new chapter in the field of science and research this December as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jodhpur hosted the sixth Science Conference and National Biomedical Research Competition (NBRCOM 2025).

The three-day event, held from December 5 to 7 under the banner of the Society of Young Biomedical Scientists (SYBS India), brought together over 700 doctors, scientists, researchers and students from across India and abroad.

The conference emerged as a major platform for showcasing new research, innovative ideas and scientific collaboration, while also playing a key role in shaping the future direction of biomedical science.

Confluence of Science and Innovation

NBRCOM 2025 featured research presentations across three major domains — life sciences, health sciences and pharmaceutical sciences.

Young and senior scientists shared their discoveries, achievements and forward-looking ideas, fostering meaningful dialogue between experience and youthful energy.

To encourage excellence, winners were awarded prize money totalling up to ₹15 lakh. In addition, young scientists and student participants who demonstrated outstanding potential were honoured with the prestigious Young Researcher Awards, recognising early talent and dedication in the field of biomedical research.

Addressing the gathering, Conference Chairperson Prof Amit Goyal said that Indian science is steadily strengthening its presence on the global stage, and platforms such as NBRCOM play a vital role in elevating this recognition further.

“NBRCOM 2025 is not just an academic conference, but a unique confluence of the experience of senior clinicians and scientists with the energy and innovation of the younger generation,” he said, highlighting the importance of mentorship and collaboration in scientific advancement.

Empowering Young Researchers

SYBS India President Dr Rohitash Yadav emphasised that the platform is not merely about awards but about taking new scientific thinking and research to the wider world.

He noted that prestigious honours such as the Nobel Prize often come at later stages of a scientist’s career, but early recognition and encouragement can transform the direction of science itself.

With this vision, SYBS India introduced the Young Researcher Awards to motivate students and early-career scientists at the beginning of their professional journeys.

The conference benefited from the guidance of several eminent scientists and heads of national institutions who served as chief patrons and mentors.

These included Prof Minu Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Rishikesh; Prof Arvind Sinha, Executive Director, AIIMS Kalyani; Prof Prashant P Joshi, Executive Director, AIIMS Nagpur; Prof Vibha Tandon, Director, CSIR–IICB Kolkata; and Prof TS Rao, former senior advisor to the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

In addition, renowned experts from institutions such as CSIR, ICMR, AIIMS, IITs and central universities extended their support and mentorship, ensuring strong academic and scientific oversight.

Organised under the leadership of a dedicated and experienced team from AIIMS Jodhpur and SYBS India, NBRCOM 2025 stood out as a significant scientific gathering.

The event not only celebrated current achievements but also inspired the next generation of researchers, reinforcing India’s growing role as a global hub for biomedical research and innovation.
