As part of the build-up to International Day of Yoga 2026, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi organised a ‘Run for Yoga’ and a Zumba session under the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’ to promote fitness, wellness and healthy living.

The event drew enthusiastic participation from institute officials, doctors, faculty members, students, staff and members of the public.

The ‘Run for Yoga’ began from the AIIA campus and covered a route from the institute’s main gate to Kendriya Vidyalaya and NTPC before returning to the campus.

Following the run, participants joined an energetic Zumba session led by renowned fitness expert Meenal Pathak in front of the Academic Block.

The event highlighted the growing awareness of fitness and active lifestyles among people of all age groups.

Speaking on the occasion, AIIA Director Prof (Vaidya) Pradeep Kumar Prajapati emphasised yoga’s role in maintaining physical and mental well-being and fostering a healthy lifestyle. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for popularising yoga globally and encouraging millions to embrace its benefits.

Pradeep Kumar Prajapati also urged people to incorporate yoga into their daily routines for better health and disease prevention.

As part of the International Day of Yoga celebrations on June 21, AIIA will organise a mass yoga session at its Sarita Vihar campus.

The programme will feature the Common Yoga Protocol and activities centred on the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’.

Later in the day, a special yoga programme will be held at the Supreme Court of India, where the Chief Justice of India will attend as the chief guest.

The event will further reinforce the nationwide commitment to promoting yoga, health and well-being.
