Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid tribute to Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar on her death anniversary on Thursday, recalling her contributions to cultural heritage, women’s empowerment, justice and public welfare.
In a post on X, Shah remembered Ahilyabai Holkar for restoring and rebuilding temples, developing pilgrimage sites and preserving India’s cultural heritage.
The Minister highlighted her efforts to promote women’s education and widow remarriage.
Shah said her work established an enduring example of public welfare, justice and good governance.

CM Yogi Adityanath described Ahilyabai Holkar as a symbol of women’s empowerment, justice, ethical governance and public welfare, as well as a devoted follower of Lord Shiva.
The UP CM said she promoted prosperity, social harmony and religious revival across her state and the wider country.
CM Adityanath added that she transformed justice into ethics, service into devotion and good governance into a cultural value.

Ahilyabai Holkar ruled the Malwa region during the 18th century and earned recognition for her administrative leadership and welfare initiatives. She supported the restoration of temples and development of pilgrimage centres across India while promoting social welfare and women’s empowerment.
Ahilyabai Holkar’s legacy continues to be associated with compassionate governance, cultural preservation, justice and service to society.
