After 5-long-hours of meeting with the Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur over the protest against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh accusing him of sexual harassment, the wrestlers finally took a call to suspend their agitation.
The union minister has assured them that the investigation will be completed by June 15. However, the protesters have also warned that they will resume their protests if no action is taken against Brij Bhushan.
Wrestler Sakshi Malik, who attended the meeting, said that the wrestlers were asked to suspend the protest against Brij Bhushan till the police complete its investigation into the wrestlers’ sexual harassment complaints.
Speaking to the media, Ms Malik said, “We have been asked to suspend our protest till police complete its investigation by June 15,” adding that the Delhi Police will withdraw FIRs filed against wrestlers.
Moreover, after meeting the sports minister, wrestler Bajrang Punia said the government has assured the grapplers that the police investigation into the sexual harassment case against Brij Bhushan would be completed by June 15.

“[The] government has assured us that police investigation will be completed before 15th June. We have requested that all FIRs against wrestlers should be taken back and he has agreed to it. If no action is taken by 15th June, we will continue our protest,” wrestler Bajrang told the media.
“We had a discussion on some issues. Police investigation should be completed by 15th June and the minister has requested us not to hold protests until then,” he added.
Further, wrestler Bajrang said, “He also said the security of female wrestlers will be taken care of. We have requested that all FIRs against wrestlers should be taken back and he has agreed to it.”
