A Bengaluru-based startup called Squadrone Infra and Mining Private Limited, which specializes in airborne intelligence for mining, tunneling, and infrastructure as well as mineral exploration, has joined the rescue efforts in Uttarkashi in relation to the 41 workers who are trapped in a tunnel.

The company plans to use two cutting-edge drones, which will be piloted by six highly qualified mining engineers, drone operators, and geotechnical specialists. Drones may be maneuvered into tunnels to scan the location and determine the likelihood of a safe rescue for the 41 laborers who have been stranded since November 12.

Squadrone will make use of its drone-based geophysical and Emesent Hovermap technology, which is utilized for mapping inaccessible and distant places as well as subterranean applications.

The business intervened at the request of Border Roads Organization DDG Brigadier Vishal Varma, who is leading the Silkyara Tunnel rescue operation.

“The deployed drones are equipped with cutting-edge simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technology as well as artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities,” stated Cyriac Joseph, founder and CEO of Squadrone. These characteristics make it possible to produce extensive data on the geotechnical disturbances, tunnels, and mine structures. This technology is used for geotechnical applications in underground and tunnel environments, and it plays a key role in mapping the tunnel site in order to create a successful rescue strategy.

Drone technology combined with AI and ML guarantees precise and improved visualization, allowing quick and efficient decision-making for tunneling operations.
