After Sam Pitroda’s resignation from his position in the Congress due to his controversial remarks, the BJP has raised concerns over Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s language choices, suggesting it reflects a broader mindset within the party. Reacting to the criticism surrounding Sam Pitroda’s comments, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury refrained from condemning the statement, describing it as Pitroda’s personal opinion.
“We have Proto Australoids, Mongoloid class, Negrita class of people. Hai to hai (It is how it is). In the demography of our country, regional features are different. What someone said is his personal opinion but it is true that some people are white, some dark,” Adhir said.
BJP’s national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala criticized Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for using offensive language about Indians while defending Sam Pitroda. Poonawala remarked that it indicates a continuation of the Congress’s mindset, pointing out that while the words may differ, the underlying ideology remains consistent. Poonawala questioned the justification of Pitroda’s remarks and called for action against Chowdhury, referring to his past controversial statement about Draupadi Murmu ji.

In an earlier interview, Sam Pitroda, while discussing unity in diversity, made remarks about the physical appearances of people from different regions in India. He mentioned that despite diverse appearances, India has managed to maintain unity for 75 years. However, his comments sparked controversy, leading to his resignation from the Indian Overseas Congress.
The BJP demanded an apology from the Congress for Pitroda’s statement and questioned why he was not removed from his position immediately.
