Adani Group denies involvement in Silkyara tunnel construction amidst Uttarkashi crisis

In Uttarkashi, a critical situation unfolds as 41 laborers remain stranded in the Silkyara-Barkot tunnel for 16 days. Despite relentless rescue efforts, success remains elusive. Allegations associating the Adani Group with the tunnel construction have been vehemently denied in a statement, labeling them as baseless.

The Adani Group expressed condemnation, stating, “Adani Group or any of its companies has no involvement in any such tunnel construction.” They fervently disassociate from the situation, emphasizing the need for accurate information.

Rescue operations intensify with vertical drilling reaching 31 meters above the tunnel. The breakdown of the auger machine necessitated the initiation of manual debris removal and the exploration of alternative routes.

Multiple fronts are engaged in the rescue efforts, with the military actively involved. Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, PK Mishra, visited Uttarkashi, personally interacting with trapped workers and their families. He also scrutinized the provisions and conditions within the tunnel.
