Adani Foundation Is Making The Women Of Kashi Self-Reliant In Sewapuri

Last year Adani Foundation in Sewapuri, Varanasi aligned its skill development and entrepreneurship program with its mission. The Group’s philosophy is ‘Development with Goodness’ with an endeavor to empower socially and economically amongst the weaker sections of the society, irrespective of their caste, creed, colour, thereby bringing a positive change in the lives of people Returns.

Skill Development Center is established in Sewapuri under Adani Foundation

The Foundation has worked tirelessly for the underprivileged. Skill development of women in four special trades i.e. tailoring, shoe making, sweater making, dhoop and dhoopbatti making by Adani Skill’s special team for 3 months, training women in respective trade for 3 months to make women self-reliant So kept on promoting women empowerment.

Various processes are being adopted in the training hub including sensitization, mobilization, and enrollment of women involved in the training program to develop their potential and their skills in the domain business.
Adani Foundation aims to make these women, mainly housewives, near Sewapuri block of Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh. After Adani Skill Development Center launched the skill development programme, these women enthusiastically entered the training and learned all aspects of manufacturing agarbatti, packaging, marketing and logistics.

Bamboo-free and chemical-free incense sticks made from natural products

Presently Kashi Prerna Saksham Manufacturer Co. Ltd. produces various sizes and shapes of Agarbatti to suit different demands. There are about 300 women here, the success of the project is due to the tireless efforts of each one. Gangatiri Agarbatti manufactured by a group of rural women has reached the country and abroad.

We would like to emphasize to share that Gangatiri Agarbatti and Dhoopbatti are made from natural products like; Cow dung, camphor, coconut oil, guggal, sandalwood powder, rice flour and other 54 types of herbs are included. The Gangatiri is an indigenous Indian breed, found in the eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh, in the districts of Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia, and adjacent areas of the state of Bihar, around the Ganges River.

Adani Skill Development Center making rural women self-reliant

The present population of this breed is around 3 to 4 lakhs, out of which around 67000 are found in the breeding areas. Kashi Prerna Saksham Producer Company Limited is a group of women working with the common goal of self-reliance and to become entrepreneurs to provide livelihood opportunities to local women.

As these ladies know that consumers have lakhs of options to buy incense sticks, they have kept in mind the needs of the devotees and have creatively designed these sticks keeping in mind the time taken to use these incense sticks and incense sticks. Designed.
Since the group is manufacturing on its own, it has received huge support from Adani Kaushal Vikas Kendra in the form of training and setup of the manufacturing unit at Sewapuri Block, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Since Gangatiri products are made from natural sources, the village women have a better understanding of manufacturing that supports sustainability.

Adani Foundation and National Skill Development Corporation provide a platform to the privileged, marginalised, vulnerable members of the society to revitalize and transform their livelihoods. It is working in 30 centers in 19 cities which has launched 55+ vocational courses in the country which have benefitted more than 90,000+ people in remote rural areas.
