“Prime Minister Modi has written a song with me and my husband Gaurav Shah,” Falu stated to reporter.

She claimed that after meeting Prime Minister Modi in Delhi last year following her Grammy win, she got the inspiration to write a song about millets. She also mentioned that during their conversation about the ability of music to inspire change and elevate humanity, Prime Minister Modi advised her to write a song with a message of ending hunger.

Falu “naively” asked the Prime Minister whether he could create a song on millets, according to a previous News report. The song honours this year’s International Year of the Millets, which was proclaimed by the UN.

The proposal was presented by India and approved by the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly as well as members of the Governing Bodies of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The Modi administration has been pushing millet as a wholesome cereal, emphasising both its health advantages and its potential to reduce poverty. When PM Modi visited the US, the cereal was also served at his State Dinner.
