Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, a Varanasi-based weaver has created a unique artistic tribute depicting the Prime Minister receiving blessings from his late mother, Heeraben Modi.
Weaver Sarvesh Kumar Srivastava crafted the portrait using pure Indian silk threads, showcasing the traditional artistry and weaving heritage of Kashi.
The artwork captures an emotional moment between the Prime Minister and his mother through intricate threadwork.
According to Sarvesh Kumar Srivastava, he created the portrait using the traditional ‘Uchand Kala’, an ancient art form believed to have links to the era of Lord Ram.
The intricate artwork took around one and a half months to complete.
The weaver is sending the portrait to PM Modi as a special birthday gift.
Sarvesh Kumar Srivastava has previously presented Banarasi sarees to the Prime Minister on his birthdays. He said the artwork represents his tribute to PM Modi while preserving a visual representation of his bond with his mother through Varanasi’s traditional craftsmanship.
Sarvesh Kumar Srivastava expressed hope that the Prime Minister would preserve the portrait as a distinctive example of Indian artistry.
The artwork highlights Kashi’s rich cultural heritage, where generations of artisans and weavers have preserved traditional techniques while adapting them to contemporary themes.
By depicting PM Modi and Heeraben through silk threads, Sarvesh Kumar Srivastava has combined a personal tribute with Varanasi’s centuries-old weaving tradition.
The portrait brings together the city’s renowned silk craftsmanship, traditional art and an emotional mother-son theme.
The special creation is expected to reach PM Modi around his birthday, offering a distinctive gift that celebrates both his personal connection with his mother and the artistic legacy of Varanasi.
