Though the report praises both the states, Bihar and TN, however it hints for the TN to be more attentive towards Maths for the students.
The National Report on benchmarking says a lot finding Bihar and Bengal top in the ‘superior skills’ whereas Tamil Nadu requires focus on the students scoring lowest in basic Mathematics.
The data revealed by the NCERT in the national report belongs to benchmarking for ‘oral reading fluency with reading comprehension and numeracy 2022’
As per the report, Tamil Nadu has the highest number of students poor at the most basic numeracy skills and the list follows Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and Gujarat. These students are not able to complete most basic grade-level tasks and are unable to identify numbers as well as addition, and subtraction.
On the other hand report admires states like West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Bihar. The students belonging to these states have the have either enough knowledge and skills. They are also efficiently able to encounter complete complex grade-level tasks successfully.
