80th Independence Day: Key Quotes From PM Modi’s Red Fort Address

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday outlined his vision for an Atmanirbhar Bharat and called for renewed efforts to achieve the goal of making India a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the 80th Independence Day, PM Modi highlighted India’s economic progress, self-reliance, women’s representation, national security and the need to maintain the country’s development momentum.

As ‘Vande Mataram’ echoed from the Red Fort, PM Modi called the moment historic, saying the Tricolour flew in every home and lived in every Indian’s heart.

Emphasising the Viksit Bharat vision, PM Modi said that India was advancing at an unprecedented pace and that no force could stop the resolve of 140 crore Indians. He further said the country’s ambition was to achieve developed-nation status by 2047 through the collective contribution, effort and participation of its citizens.

PM Modi said India had moved beyond the ‘Fragile Five’ to become the world’s fastest-growing major economy, crediting Indians’ determination for the progress.

PM Modi stressed that achieving an Atmanirbhar Bharat was essential for India’s future. He further called for strengthening domestic capabilities, reducing dependence on other nations and protecting the country’s interests.

Urging Indians to maintain the pace of development, PM Modi said the country could not afford to pause or slow its momentum.

PM Modi highlighted India’s growing global stature, calling for a new ‘Sapta Dhara’ to build Viksit Bharat. He further urged greater political representation for women and warned against ‘dimagi Naxals’.

The Prime Minister identified self-reliance, growth and national security as key to achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.
