Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day addresses from the historic Red Fort have traced a 13-year journey of his vision for India. His shortest speech lasted 56 minutes in 2017. His longest came in 2025, lasting a record 103 minutes. In 2026, he delivered a 75-minute address.
PM Modi began the series in 2014 with a 65-minute speech. He called himself the nation’s ‘Pradhan Sevak’ and launched Jan Dhan Yojana for financial inclusion.
In 2015, PM Modi’s 88-minute address promised to electrify the remaining villages within 1,000 days and accepted the ‘One Rank, One Pension’ demand in principle.
The Prime Minister’s 96-minute speech in 2016 focused on anti-corruption, black money and a 20 per cent pension increase for freedom fighters.
The 2017 address set the goal of a ‘Majestic India’ by 2022 and launched a website honouring Gallantry Award winners.
In 2018, PM Modi announced the Gaganyaan manned space mission and fixed the launch date for Ayushman Bharat. His 2019 speech highlighted sanitation, LPG connections and electrification.
The 2020 address promoted Atmanirbhar Bharat amid the pandemic.
In 2021, PM Modi focused on vaccination and economic recovery. His 2022 speech marked 75 years of Independence and introduced the ‘Panch Pran’.
In 2023, the Prime Minister highlighted national resilience and women-led development.
The 2024 address outlined the Viksit Bharat 2047 roadmap, announced 75,000 new medical seats and stressed Olympic ambitions.
In 2025, PM Modi’s record-length speech centred on self-reliance, semiconductors and national security.
In 2026, Prime Minister Modi announced AI skills training for one crore youth and warned against ‘Dimagi Naxalism’.
Across the years, the PM’s addresses have consistently stressed self-reliance, youth empowerment, economic transformation and the ambition to build a developed India by 2047.
