Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh has expressed his satisfaction with the recent decision to designate 27,000 square miles across six districts, including Lucknow, as the State Capital Region (SCR). He also extended his congratulations to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for issuing the notification regarding the SCR. Dr. Singh believes that this move will significantly enhance the development of Lucknow.

Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, who represents the Sarojini nagar constituency near Lucknow, had previously advocated for the creation of the SCR in a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on June 15, 2022. In his correspondence, he emphasized the need to integrate Lucknow and its adjacent areas into a comprehensive development plan, similar to the approach taken with Delhi and its surrounding regions.

He argued that by including the connected areas, or ‘Arterial Region,’ in the development scheme, there would be substantial improvements in infrastructure, industrial parks, logistics, road transport, and business activities. Dr. Singh drew a parallel to the National Capital Region (NCR), which, through coordinated development, has seen considerable progress.
