6 arrested in Manipur Viral Video Case
According to Manipur police, six people in all, including five main accused and one minor, have been arrested in connection with the Manipur viral video case thus far. The State Police is putting in a consisitent effort to apprehend the remaining offenders by conducting raids at numerous alleged hiding places.
State of Unpredictability in the state
The last 24 hours have seen continued tension and unpredictability in the State. Numerous locations witnessed peaceful protests, dharnas, and peace rallies.
Search activities were carried out by State Police and Central forces in the marginal and exposed areas of the valley and hill districts. In total, 125 Nakas/Checkpoints—both in the hilly and valleyy regions of Manipur—were set up, and the police detained 396 people in connection with infractions in various State districts.
Manipur Viral Video Case
Recently, video of two Kuki women being paraded naked got viral. After that, there was a massive outburst of rage in the public followed by this incident. The entire nation came up to express themselves over this matter on the internet. Many diplomats and even b – town celebs came up to present their views on the internet. The Prime Minister said that this was a ‘shameful’ incident. Apart from this, the PM promised that strict and quick actins will be taken in this case. The police of Manipur started looking for the accused in a very prompt manner. They worked to arrest the prime accused within 24 hours of the video getting viral.
House of accused set to fire
Within the next 24 hours, house of an accused in the case was set to fire by a mob. Women felt humiliated after this incident took place, hence a mob comprising of women went on to set the house of the accused to fire. Videos of the incident surfaced over the internet.
