After being disqualified as a Member of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress addressed media in a press conference today, something that the PM has not done so far. His statements seemed to be hard-hitting, sharp, and direct throughout the conference. Democracy has been killed in this state, he clearly said, and he’s not afraid of anyone.
I’m not scared of anyone
A disqualification cannot scare me, I’m not scared of anything. Beat me or put me in jail, nothing can stop me. I am here to defend the democratic voice of people of India. Will continue to do that, I am not scared of anyone”, his determination reflected in his words.
Prime Minister is scared of my speech
I won’t stop raising questions. What is the relationship between PM Modi and Adani? I’ll keep asking this question. Prime Minister is scared of my next speech and I’ve seen this in his eyes. He knew I’ll ask questions about his deep relationship with Adani which is from the days when he was CM of Gujarat. That is why first the distraction, then the disqualification happened.

In the entire press conference, Rahul Gandhi kept pressing about the matter of 20,000 crore rupees that suddenly dropped in Adani’s shell companies. He raised this question around 17 times, where did that money come from? Is the government going to answer? To whom does that money belong?
Questions on media, straight but subtle
There were times when he came up with jibes on journalism and questioned its functioning. He alleged the media of working for the BJP government and not raising the real questions and even took a moment to tell a journalist how to ask questions in favour of the government.
Not scared, but rather motivated
Mr. Gandhi said firmly that he was not scared or apprehended but motivated by what the government has done to him. This will boost him and he is going to continue to raise voice for democracy and for the common man of India. Though he answered all the questions firmly, he averted to comment on those related to legal subjects and said he respects the institution and won’t comment on it.
This country has given me everything
“I am not interested in anything but the truth. I only speak the truth, it is my work and I will keep doing it even if I get disqualified or get arrested. This country has given me everything and that is why I do this”, he said. The former MP of Wayanad said he’s grateful to all the leaders of other political parties who supported him and raised a question against his disqualification.
Country is Adani and Adani is country
I have said many times before that democracy is being attacked in the country. We are seeing examples of this each day. I asked questions in the Parliament regarding the relationship between PM Modi and Adani. For this government country is Adani and Adani is country.

When questioned on BJP’s demand for an apology for allegedly insulting India abroad, he said crisply – My name is not Savarkar, it is Gandhi and Gandhi never offers apology.
