16-year-old girl allegedly held hostage, raped in Chhattisgarh; one held

According to an official, the accused has been taken into custody by the police, and efforts are underway to capture his mother, who was a co-conspirator in the crime.

In a village in the Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district of Chhattisgarh, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly held captive and sexually assaulted by a man for two days, according to police on Tuesday.

According to an official, the accused has been taken into custody by the police, and efforts are underway to capture his mother, who was a co-conspirator in the crime.

On the evening of December 21, in a village under the jurisdiction of Pendra police station, the girl was allegedly abducted by the 27-year-old accused, who had offered to drop her off at home.

The accused took the girl to a nearby forest on his motorcycle and then took her to his house, where he allegedly raped her for the next two days, he said.

According to the official, the girl was beaten by the accused and his mother and rendered unconscious by a pond on the outskirts of the village.

On December 23, the girl’s father reportedly learned of her whereabouts and hurried her to the hospital.

The father subsequently filed a police complaint against the man and his mother, citing them for rape in section 376, kidnapping in section 363, intentionally causing harm in section 323, criminal intimidation in section 506, and other applicable provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he continued.

The accused man was arrested on December 29, and efforts are on to trace his mother, the official said.
