In a separate incident, an NHAI’s Chijarsi toll plaza staff member in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district was allegedly hit and run over by a car driver last August.
According to Deepak Verma, manager of the Chijarsi toll plaza, the car driver, queued behind a truck at the toll gate and proceeded towards Hapur from the Ghaziabad side. Upon the truck passing through the gates, the car followed closely and evaded toll payment. A staff member attempted to halt the car, but the driver accelerated, hitting the toll staff member deliberately. The driver then fled towards Hapur, leaving the injured staff member, identified as Shekhar Yadav, with multiple injuries, including a fractured leg. Yadav was promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention.
These incidents underscore the need for heightened security measures and vigilance at toll plazas to ensure the safety of both employees and commuters.
