11-Year-Old Raped In Maharashtra’s Ambernath, Girl Among 4 Minor Accused

A rape complaint has been filed under the new criminal code, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the draconian Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been cited

An 11-year-old girl was raped in Ambernath, Maharashtra’s Thane district, according to police. The main culprit, a juvenile, has been apprehended alongside five others. According to authorities, four of the accused are minors, including one female.
Police said the 11-year-old was in Ambernath town when the accused girl persuaded her to join her to a nearby location where the other accused were waiting.

The primary accused raped her in an auto-rickshaw, the girl claims in her lawsuit. According to news agency PTI, the accused threatened the girl not to tell anyone about the incident. But she managed to run and return home, where she informed her parents about the incident.

Inspector Jagannath Kalaskar of Ambernath police station stated that two adult accused have been remanded in police custody, while the young accused has been taken to a reform home.
