With the recovery of huge stash of Gold Ornaments, Luxury Watches, Apple Airpods and Foreign currency, the team of PS IGI Airport succeeded in solving a case vide FIR No. 279/23 Dated 23.09.23 U/s 379/411/34 IPC, PS IGI Airport, Delhi. There has been a focus on the cases of Baggage Thefts throughout the year, and, in order to curtail the theft, a dedicated team was deployed to solve this case.
INCIDENT:-
The present FIR was registered at P.S. IGI Airport on the complaint of Ms. Paramjeet Kaur resident of VPO Pandori Ran Singh, Tarn Taran, Punjab, wherein the complainant alleged that on 16.09.2023, she came to Delhi from Melbourne by Singapore Airlines. Further, she had to take another flight from Delhi to Amritsar. While boarding for Amritsar, her baggage was found to be overweight for which she opened her bags and adjusted the articles. All this time, her assistant for wheelchair that she had booked, was observing her. When she reached home, she realized that her gold valuables were missing from her purse that she had kept in her check-in baggage.
RECOVERY:-
- One pair of Golden Jhumki studded with white moti.
- Two pairs of Golden Jhumkis.
- One golden Chain.
- One pair golden Tops.
- One golden small Chain.
- One pair golden Jhumki.
- One golden broken Mangalsutra having one pendant.
- Two pieces of broken golden chain.
- One golden Ladies Chain.
- One Rado and One De Grisogono luxury watches.
- Two Apple Airpods.
- One pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses.
- 13Currency of five different foreign countries.
ROLE OF AIRLINES & SATS:-
These accused used to manage the Security officer of Airlines to give them a wide berth while they are involved in the process of loading-unloading the baggage from the Aircraft.
Duty Officer of SATS, whose job is to assign duties to the loaders was managed by them to assign them duties in the holding area only.
The investigation is being carried out to ascertain clearer picture about their complete involvement, therefore, no one has been arrested from the Airlines or SATS so far.
Another incident had occurred on 16.08.2023, wherein, complainant Sh. Rajesh Sen, resident of Goa, alleged that he travelled from Delhi to Goa via Air Vistara airline on 16.08.23 and had handed over his luggage for check-in at Air Vistara counter at IGI Airport T3, Delhi. His check-in bag contained a luxury watch of CARL F. BUCHERER brand, valued at Rs. 4,68,000/-. When he collected his check-in bag at the Goa Airport, he could not find his watch, and it was supposedly stolen from the baggage. It is pertinent to mention that the same ground handling company i.e. Air India SATS is managing the baggage handling with Air Vistara. The investigation of the same is also going on and the responsible officials of Air Vistara and Air India SATS will be charge-sheeted accordingly.
