Amid a gradual but noticeable increase in Covid-19 cases in Bengaluru, the Karnataka Health Department has issued a public advisory urging residents to adopt Covid-appropriate behaviour.
Over the past 20 days, the state has recorded 35 new cases, with 32 originating from the city alone, according to Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Though the minister clarified that no serious or alarming situations have been reported so far, he stressed the importance of precaution.
“It is advisable that the public proactively comply with Covid-19 appropriate behaviour,” he said, adding that vulnerable populations, such as pregnant women, children, those with comorbidities, and immuno-compromised individuals, should wear masks in crowded spaces.
Safety Measures & Testing Encouraged
The advisory recommends simple preventive steps such as using hand sanitiser and wearing masks in public.
The Health Minister urged people experiencing Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) symptoms to undergo COVID-19 testing to ensure timely treatment and prevent further spread.

This cautious approach follows the confirmation of a COVID-19 case in a nine-month-old infant in Bengaluru.
Health department officials revealed that the child tested positive on 22 May through a Rapid Antigen Test.
The baby from Hoskote on the city outskirts is undergoing treatment at Vani Vilas Hospital and remains stable without complications.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also voiced concern over the uptick in cases, urging the Central government to respond swiftly.
Speaking to the media, Siddaramaiah referenced rising case numbers in countries like Singapore and Hong Kong, cautioning that similar trends could emerge in India.
He criticised the lack of preventive screening measures at airports for international travellers and stressed the need for immediate action.
“There is a possibility of rising COVID-19 cases here as well. The Central government must make swift decisions and take precautionary measures,” he said.
While the situation remains under control, both the state leadership and health officials are urging the public not to become complacent.
With the virus showing signs of resurgence, continued vigilance and adherence to safety protocols will be key to preventing a larger outbreak in Bengaluru and across Karnataka.
