A Hyderabad-based dermatologist has drawn widespread attention after suggesting that a simple drink made from three everyday kitchen ingredients could help relieve persistent digestive discomfort, including acidity, bloating, and gas.
The doctor argues that millions who rely on antacids each morning may find a more sustainable solution already available at home.
Dr Pooja Reddy described the remedy as a low-cost, side-effect-free option rooted in traditional Indian households. She emphasised that the drink requires only jeera, ajwain and fennel seeds, ingredients long celebrated in Indian cooking for their digestive benefits.
According to her, the preparation takes only a few minutes and costs significantly less than most over-the-counter digestive aids.

Dr Reddy explained that drinking the concoction on an empty stomach may help target three of the most common digestive issues:
-
Acidity Relief
She said ajwain contains thymol, which can stimulate the stomach to release digestive enzymes more efficiently. This, she claims, may reduce the burning sensation associated with acid reflux.
-
Reduced Bloating
She noted that jeera supports bile production, helping break down fats, while fennel is traditionally used to soothe the digestive tract. Together, she said, they may help release trapped gas and reduce abdominal tightness.
-
Natural Metabolism Boost
The dermatologist added that the blend may gently increase metabolic activity, supporting calorie breakdown, improving gut bacteria balance and contributing to clearer skin.
-
Simple Method to Prepare the Drink
To make the drink, she recommends using half a teaspoon each of jeera, ajwain and fennel seeds. Boil these in a glass of water for five to ten minutes until the water turns a warm golden shade. Then strain the liquid and drink it warm at the start of the day.

Doctor Encourages Daily Use
Dr Reddy advises incorporating the drink into a daily routine, suggesting that regular consumption may lead to noticeable improvements in digestion, bloating and overall gut health within a short period.
