Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCH&RC), Punjab, a unit of the Tata Memorial Centre under the Department of Atomic Energy, on Friday commenced the third edition of the Homi Bhabha Cancer Conclave (HBCC) 2026.

The three-day academic conclave is focused on the multidisciplinary management of common cancers under the theme Bridging Gaps in Oncology.

Hundreds of doctors from across the country have registered for the event.

The opening day featured three specialised pre-conference workshops at HBCH&RC, New Chandigarh.

The sessions covered virtual surgical planning, navigation and 3D printing in surgical oncology; MRI in prostate cancer; and HER2 testing in the era of precision medicine.

The workshops provided participants with hands-on and interactive learning opportunities.

The main conference will take place at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Chandigarh, on August 22 and 23.

Former NITI Aayog member and former head of the Paediatrics Department at AIIMS New Delhi, Dr Vinod Kumar Paul, will inaugurate the conference as chief guest, while IIT Ropar Director Dr Rajeev Ahuja will be the guest of honour.

Saturday’s scientific sessions will focus on GI Oncology and Haematology, while Sunday’s programme will cover Head & Neck Cancer, Thoracic Oncology and Dental Rehabilitation.

The conclave will, however, feature a Cancer Awareness Walkathon at Sukhna Lake on August 23 to promote awareness about cancer prevention and early detection.

Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav will be the chief guest.

HBCH&RC Director Dr Ashish Gulia said the conclave aims to strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration, bridge gaps between knowledge and clinical practice, and enhance oncology education in North India.
