The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has issued an alert. It warned citizens about fake SMS messages circulating in the name of parcel delivery. These messages often claim that a package has arrived at a warehouse.
They also urge recipients to update their address details within 24 hours to prevent the parcel from being returned.
Through its PIB Fact Check unit, the government has clarified that the messages are fraudulent and should not be trusted.

The advisory also stressed that India Post does not send text messages asking customers to update their address details for the delivery of articles.
PIB urged people to remain cautious and avoid clicking on any links included in such messages.
Officials warned that these links are often designed to steal personal or financial information, posing a serious risk to users.
Authorities noted that scammers frequently use urgent language, such as tight deadlines, to pressure recipients into acting quickly without verifying the authenticity of the message. Such tactics are commonly used in cyber fraud related to fake delivery notifications.
The government also advised citizens to verify delivery-related information only through official India Post channels.
Any suspicious messages should be ignored and, where possible, reported to the relevant authorities or cybercrime helplines.
PIB reiterated the importance of digital awareness and vigilance.
By avoiding unknown links and verifying messages from official sources, citizens can protect themselves from falling victim to online scams and fraudulent activities.
