PIB Flags Doctored Video Claiming Diplomatic Row During PM Modi’s Jordan Visit

The Press Information Bureau’s fact-check wing has cautioned the public against a digitally manipulated video circulating online that falsely claims Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Jordan triggered diplomatic concerns over protocol.

According to PIB Fact Check, several Pakistan-based propaganda-linked social media accounts have shared the video, alleging that the Prime Minister’s visit raised serious questions at the diplomatic level.

The agency clarified that the claims are entirely baseless and intended to mislead viewers.

Officials said manipulators used artificial intelligence tools to alter the video, making it appear authentic while presenting fabricated information.

The content does not reflect any official position or verified development related to India’s diplomatic ties with Jordan.

In its clarification, PIB Fact Check confirmed that the video is not genuine and has been digitally modified.

The agency stressed that people are increasingly misusing advanced AI techniques to distort facts, impersonate credible sources and spread disinformation at scale.

The fact-check unit urged citizens to remain alert. This is particularly important when consuming content related to sensitive issues such as foreign policy, national leadership, and international relations.

Advisory to the Public

PIB advised people to rely only on information released through official government channels or verified sources. It warned that creators often design misleading videos and images to provoke confusion, distrust or panic, especially on social media platforms where content spreads rapidly.

The agency reiterated that sharing unverified material can unintentionally amplify false narratives and undermine public understanding of key national matters.

To counter the growing threat of digital misinformation, PIB Fact Check encouraged citizens to report any questionable photos, videos or messages related to the Central Government. Such content can be submitted directly to the fact-check unit for verification.

People can send reports via WhatsApp or email, enabling authorities to assess and debunk false claims promptly.

The warning comes amid increasing global concern over the misuse of artificial intelligence to create deepfakes and manipulated media.

Experts have repeatedly highlighted the need for digital literacy and institutional fact-checking mechanisms to safeguard public discourse.

PIB said continued vigilance from both authorities and citizens is essential to prevent the spread of deceptive content and to maintain trust in verified information.
