India’s official fact-checking unit, PIB Fact Check, has exposed a fabricated video that falsely attributes controversial remarks to General Anil Chauhan.
The manipulated clip claims that the Chief of Defence Staff mocked US President Donald Trump and questioned his authority while referencing other global leaders.

Authorities clarified that the statements are entirely false and do not reflect any official position.
Investigators found that the video was generated using artificial intelligence tools and circulated widely on social media platforms.
The altered footage originated from an authentic interview in which General Chauhan discussed military preparedness and future operational strategies, reportedly linked to discussions of Op Sindoor.
Malicious actors edited the clip to insert fabricated political commentary, thereby distorting its original context.
Officials indicated that certain propaganda-linked accounts, traced to Pakistani networks, amplified the misleading content to spread disinformation.
PIB Fact Check categorically denied the claims and provided access to the original, unedited interview clip to establish factual accuracy. The agency emphasised that the CDS had never made such remarks.
Authorities urged citizens to remain cautious while consuming digital content and to verify information through credible sources.
PIB encouraged users to report suspicious material through its official channels to counter the spread of manipulated media.
The incident highlights the increasing misuse of AI technologies to fabricate narratives. It reinforces the need to establish robust verification mechanisms to safeguard public discourse and institutional credibility.
