The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check has debunked a deepfake video falsely portraying Prime Minister Narendra Modi endorsing an investment platform promising extraordinary financial returns.
The agency clarified that the manipulated video forms part of a fraudulent campaign designed to deceive the public.
The fabricated clip falsely claims that an investment of ₹21,000 can generate an income exceeding ₹3.5 lakh.
PIB confirmed that the Prime Minister has never endorsed such an investment platform and described the circulating content as completely false.

The fact-checking unit shared an official alert highlighting the manipulated footage.
The video displays altered visuals of the Prime Minister speaking alongside fabricated subtitles that promote unrealistic financial gains.
PIB prominently overlaid the warning ‘DIGITALLY ALTERED’ to demonstrate that artificial intelligence generated the deceptive content.
PIB Fact Check urged citizens to remain vigilant against phishing attempts and digitally manipulated material circulated on social media and messaging platforms. It advised people not to trust investment schemes that misuse the names or images of government leaders to gain credibility.
The agency stressed that fraudsters increasingly employ artificial intelligence and deepfake technology to create convincing but false promotional videos. It urged the public to verify such claims only through official government sources before making any financial decisions.
PIB also encouraged citizens to report suspicious government-related content immediately. It advised users to submit misleading material through its official WhatsApp helpline or email so that authorities can investigate and prevent the wider spread of misinformation.
The fact check reinforces the government’s continued efforts to combat digital misinformation, expose AI-generated fraud and protect citizens from online financial scams that exploit public trust.
