PIB Fact Check on Friday dismissed as false a widely circulated claim alleging that Assam Rifles personnel transported tactical gear to armed groups in Ukhrul on April 24, 2026. The official unit categorically labelled the assertion as fabricated and misleading.
The clarification followed the circulation of a 60-second video that showcased screenshots of the original allegations shared on social media platforms.

The video prominently displayed ‘FAKE’ stamps across the content, clearly identifying the claims as unverified and incorrect.
The fact-check unit advised users to exercise caution and verify sensitive information before sharing it online. It emphasised that unchecked dissemination of such material could escalate tensions, particularly in sensitive regions like Manipur and neighbouring Nagaland.
Public responses to the post largely appreciated the prompt intervention. Several users commended the unit for swiftly addressing misinformation.
Others expressed concern about newly created social media accounts allegedly spreading narratives against security forces in the region.
Some users also called for greater transparency regarding the origin and sourcing of the viral video. They urged authorities to provide further clarity to strengthen public trust and counter disinformation effectively.
