The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit has debunked a viral video circulating on social media that falsely claims Union Home Minister Amit Shah made remarks about the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
PIB stated that someone digitally manipulated the video using artificial intelligence tools and confirmed that it does not contain any genuine statement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
PIB Fact Check categorically confirmed that Amit Shah never made the remarks attributed to him in the viral clip.
The agency warned the public that the video is entirely fabricated and urged people not to believe or share misinformation created using AI-generated content.
To refute the false claims, PIB shared the original video from which someone created the manipulated clip, enabling viewers to verify the authentic context.
The government urged citizens to rely only on verified and official sources before believing or sharing sensitive information online.
As AI-generated deepfakes become increasingly sophisticated, authorities continue to emphasise the need for caution while consuming content on social media.
PIB Fact Check also encouraged the public to report suspicious or misleading content related to the Government of India so that authorities can take appropriate action to curb the spread of false information.
The latest incident highlights the growing misuse of artificial intelligence to create convincing but false videos of public figures.
Government agencies continue to advise the public to verify viral content through official channels before forwarding it, helping curb the spread of misinformation and protecting the integrity of public discourse.
