The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit has categorically dismissed the document as forged.

The viral document uses what appears to be an official ministerial letterhead and carries a signature claimed to be that of Sarbananda Sonowal. It alleges widespread public anger, corruption, governance failures, and internal party concerns in Assam, while urging corrective measures before the upcoming elections.

Due to the sensitive nature of these claims, the letter quickly gained traction online, with many users sharing it as authentic.

PIB Fact Check, the Government of India’s official fact-checking agency, investigated the viral letter and issued a clear clarification on X.

According to PIB, the letter is fake, and the Union Minister has not issued any such communication.

PIB also confirmed that both the letterhead and the signature used in the document are forged. The clarification is significant, as forged documents attributed to senior ministers can mislead the public, create political confusion, and damage institutional credibility.

PIB has urged citizens to verify information from official sources before sharing such content online.

This incident highlights the growing challenge of misinformation and the importance of relying on verified government channels for authentic updates.
