The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has issued a clarification debunking claims circulating on social media about a ‘Prime Minister Free Scooty Scheme’ that allegedly offers free scooters to girl students for commuting to college.
According to PIB Fact Check, the claim is entirely false and misleading. The Central Government has not launched or announced any such scheme, and the fact-checking unit cautioned citizens against falling for unverified information widely shared online.
A social media post recently claimed that the government was providing free scooters to female students under a special scheme named the ‘Prime Minister Free Scooty Scheme’. The message suggested that the initiative aimed to support girls’ education by easing their commute to colleges and educational institutions.
However, PIB Fact Check categorically rejected this claim, stating that it has no basis in fact. The agency confirmed that the Central Government is not running any scheme that provides free scooters to students under such a name.

Responding to the viral claim, PIB Fact Check labelled it as fake and urged people to remain cautious while consuming and sharing information on social media platforms. The agency emphasised that misinformation can spread rapidly and may mislead students and their families.
