A fake claim about free motorcycles for ration card holders has surfaced on social media, prompting the Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit to issue a clarification.
PIB Fact Check said a Facebook page named ‘Aapnaguru’ shared a digitally altered video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The video falsely claimed that the Prime Minister had announced free motorcycles for all ration card holders.
#PIBFactCheck

The fact-checking agency rejected the claim and categorically stated that no such announcement had been made by PM Modi.
The misleading video appears to use an altered version of the Prime Minister’s footage to make the false claim appear genuine.
PIB Fact Check has urged people to verify such information through official government sources before believing or sharing it.
The clarification comes amid the growing circulation of misleading videos and fabricated announcements on social media.
Such content can create confusion among beneficiaries, particularly when it involves government schemes or financial benefits.
The PIB Fact Check unit regularly examines viral claims related to government policies, schemes and announcements and issues clarifications when it finds misleading or false information.
The latest fact check makes it clear that the government has not announced free motorcycles for ration card holders.
Citizens should therefore exercise caution and rely on verified government channels for information about welfare schemes and public announcements.
