Vikrant Massey’s portrayal in “12th Fail” continues to garner praise from industry peers, with actor Vijay Varma being the latest to express his admiration. Varma revealed that he was moved to tears by Massey’s performance in the film, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and based on the life of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma.

During an interactive session on Instagram, Varma responded to a fan’s question about crying while watching a movie or series. Referencing the popular internet meme “I am a liver,” Varma humorously confessed, “I am a crier (not a liver). I cried watching 12th Fail this evening. @vikrantmassey made me weep a lot (red heart emoticon).”
“12th Fail,” which hit theaters in October 2023 and recently made its way to Disney+ Hotstar, delves into the challenges faced by students aspiring to crack the UPSC entrance exam. The story revolves around Manoj Kumar Sharma’s journey from poverty to becoming an IPS officer. Adapted from Anurag Pathak’s novel, the film features Massey as a young man from Chambal with dreams of joining the police force.

Earlier, Kareena Kapoor, Varma’s co-star in “Jaane Jaan,” took to Instagram Stories to praise “12th Fail” and its cast and crew, hailing them as legends. Massey, overwhelmed by Kapoor’s endorsement, expressed his gratitude, jokingly suggesting retirement was now an option. Notably, other Bollywood luminaries including Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, and Vicky Kaushal have also lauded the film.
