Jaya Prada jailed: A Chennai court on Friday declared seasoned actor and politician Jaya Prada guilty. She has been given a six-month prison term. According to reports, she has also been fined 5000 in connection with the case. In the case, she was charged with failing to pay the ESI money to theatrical employees. Ram Kumar and Raja Babu, two of her business colleagues, reportedly also received convictions.
What was the case?
A theatre owned by Jaya Prada in Chennai was shut down. Later, the theatre employees complained to Jaya for failing to reimburse them for the ESI money. The money had been withheld from their pay. They claimed that the Government Insurance Corporation did not receive the ESI funds.

Jaya Prada jailed over case from Labour Government Insurance Corporation
According to reports, The Labour Government Insurance Corporation sued Jaya Prada and her friends in Chennai’s Egmore Magistrate Court. Additionally, it implied that the veteran was asking for the lawsuit to be dismissed while also acknowledging the allegations and promising to pay the back debt. The court, however, dismissed her appeal and imposed a fine and sentence of imprisonment.

Jaya’s super hit films
In the late ’70s, ’80s, and early ’90s, Jaya Prada was one of the most well-known and significant actors in Telugu and Hindi cinema. Jaya soared to success in Bollywood in 1979 with Sargam after becoming well-known in South films at a young age. Kaamchor (1982), Tohfa (1984), Sharaabi (1984), Maqsad (1984), Sanjog (1985), Aakhree Raasta (1986), Elaan-E-Jung (1989), Aaj Ka Arjun (1990), Thanedaar (1990), Maa (1991), and other Telugu films are just a few of the films she has worked in.
At the height of her popularity, Jaya left the film industry and entered politics in 1994 by joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). She first was elected to the Rajya Sabha and then the Lok Sabha. In 2019, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
