Veteran Actor Deb Mukherjee Passes Away; Bollywood Mourns

Veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, passed away, as close friends and well-wishers gathered to pay their respects.

Veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, the father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, passed away on Friday.

Close friends and well-wishers gathered at his residence to pay their respects.

His funeral was held at 4 PM at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu.

Bollywood actress Kajol already arrived at Ayan Mukerji’s home to offer condolences.

Born in Kanpur, Deb Mukherjee belonged to the illustrious Mukherjee-Samarth family, which has been associated with the film industry for over four generations since the 1930s.

His mother, Satidevi, was the sister of legendary actors Ashok Kumar, Anup Kumar, and Kishore Kumar.

Additionally, his family includes his brothers – actor Joy Mukherjee and filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee, who was married to actress Tanuja.

His nieces are Bollywood stars Kajol and Rani Mukerji.

Deb Mukherjee was married twice.

From his first marriage, he has a daughter, Sunita, who is married to director Ashutosh Gowariker.

His son, Ayan, is from his second marriage.

The veteran actor appeared in several notable films, including Sambandh, Adhikar, Zindagi Zindagi, Haiwan, Mai Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki, Karate, Baaton Baaton Mein, and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.

His funeral is likely to be attended by many members of his extended family, including Kajol and Ajay Devgn, Rani Mukerji, Tanuja, Tanisha, and Aditya Chopra.
