Renowned poet Munawwar Rana, who was undergoing treatment in a hospital due to several health concerns, died last night.

Renowned poet Munawwar Rana has passed away at the age of 71. He had been hospitalized in Lucknow for a few days due to various health problems, including a gall bladder infection for which he underwent surgery in May last year. Unfortunately, he faced complications and was on a ventilator for an extended period, battling conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney disease.

Plans were in place to transfer him to Delhi AIIMS, but he suffered a fatal heart attack, leading to his demise last night. The Sanjay Gandhi PGI Hospital in Lucknow reported that Munawwar Rana’s health had been deteriorating, prompting the decision to move him to Delhi AIIMS. However, he succumbed to a heart attack before the transfer could take place.

The late poet’s body is now on its way to Rae Bareli, where he will be laid to rest. Munawwar Rana’s daughter, Sumaiya Rana, confirmed the news of his passing. She mentioned that her father had been in the ICU at Sanjay Gandhi PGI Hospital in Lucknow for an extended period after his health took a recent downturn.
